I have had a few reports that people are having issues with the USB drivers on Windows XP.
When a mainboard (spider) is connected the USB driver never loads, the device is not found and VS cannot deploy. If you look in the device manager it will appear as unknown.
- Make sure you have Win XP SP2 installed.
- Get the latest .NET Gadgeteer bits. Probably from GHI, and remember they are updated often; probably fixing some other issue you may hit!
- During the install select the ‘Legacy USB Driver’ option.
- Plugin your mainboard (spider) and in device manager right click the unknown/error device and update the driver to a legacy driver. (located in the GHI install directory) – something like
“C:\Program Files (x86)\GHI Electronics\GHI Premium NETMF v4.2 SDK\USB Drivers”
How to hack the inf file: http://www.tinyclr.com/forum/topic?id=9521 . If you alter the inf remember that every time there is an update from GHI you will probably want to go through the inf alteration steps again.
Thanks to Gavin T for helping troubleshoot these issues.
